ESSENTIALS | SPRING/SUMMER WARDROBE ESSENTIALS

In today’s post I will be talking about my Spring/Summer fashion essentials. I used to do these every new season, but completely forgot about doing one in October last year, because I was so caught up in uni! I noticed that because I didn’t know what I wanted to own in winter, that I just felt a little bit uninspired when it came to outfits. I sincerely think that it has to do with the fact that I just didn’t do one of these Autumn/Winter essentials posts, so I’m back with an essentials post!
So in today’s post I basically talk about all the things that I want to be wearing during the Spring/Summer season, that I like, and already own and some items that I might just have to get myself a few more items of.

The Sleeveless Blazer

Sleeveless blazers have been around for a year now, and I wasn’t sure that I really liked them. I made up my mind, and I absolutely love them, especially during the warmer months when you can wear them as a coat-like something over a cute outfit or even over a dress. I currently own this black one from SheIn, a khaki one from Primark and I ordered a pinstriped one from Stradivarius. Besides those three I am also planning on getting myself a white one, but I just haven’t stumbled across one just yet.

Midi Skirts
Midi skirts, I feel like I barely wear skirts, but I want to get into the skirt-world again. Starting off with midi skirts. I feel like I will always be a bit more of a midi skirts kinda gal, as I feel like my but is always on show whenever I wear normal skirts. For this season I plan on wearing these skirts pictured above to death. I am also on the hunt for a flowy midi skirt and maybe a normal black midi skirt. I feel like ZARA, Mango, ASOS and Forever21 (the Contemporary collection) are the place to be for these kinds of skirts, so I feel like I am definitely going to find a flowy midi skirt and a black midi skirt at one of those places.

Culottes
Culottes. Some people love them some people hate them. I personally love them, and I am looking to expand. I am lacking in the culottes section of my wardrobe as you might be able to tell. I currently only own these black culottes from Primark, but I would love to get myself another pair of black culottes, a pair of white culottes and maybe a pair of grey and/or pinstriped culottes. But finding the perfect pair can be very hard. I have been looking around a bit and noticed that Missguided, ASOS and Boohoo do some really lovely culottes, so check those out if you’re looking to buy a pair of culottes like me!

The Shirts/Blouses
I always go through phases of absolutely loving and hating shirts. I’m currently in a phase where I absolutely love them as I have been wearing jumpers all winter and just want to look somewhat representable. I am pretty much sorted when it comes to the shirts department, as you can see I own way too many striped ones from H&M, Weekday and Mango.

My shirt essentials this year are a striped shirt with thin vertical stripes, a striped shirt with thick vertical stripes, a white shirt – of course – a light blue striped shirt and a light blue shirt. I own most of the striped things already, but I am still on the hunt for the perfect light blue shirt. If you’re like me and are looking for the perfect light blue shirt; I found some pretty ones at Mango and ASOS. Find the Mango one here and the one I saw on ASOS one here.

Graphic Tee’s
Whenever I see someone walk around with a really cool graphic tee, I’m just like yes, I need that in my life. I barely own any good graphic tee’s, so this year I am hoping to build myself a bit of a collection. It kind of depends on what kind of tee you would like to go for. I see lots of people wearing these Adidas or these Fila t-shirts lately. If you're not into those kinds of t-shirts you could go for a tee with text on it such as this one from Urban Outfitters

Something I absolutely love when it comes to graphic tee’s are band or movie tees. I just can’t seem to find the perfect one. I was having a little look through eBay the other week and found the perfect YEEZUS tee, that I have been wanting for absolute ages, but other than that, I haven’t been that lucky. Most people who do wear band tees usually tell me to go into a vintage store and try to find them there there.

So a few tips I am going to share with you when looking for graphic tees are:
1. If you’re on the hunt for the perfect band tee, go vintage/thrift shopping, that’s probably where you’ll find the perfect one!
2. Another one is to go and browse in the H&M Mens section, they do some band tees and sometimes have some tees with

Smart Trousers
Smart trousers are my go to pair of pants whenever I don’t know what to wear. Normally you’d go for jeans, but I tend to go for smart trousers instead. I already own a black pair, a white pair and a grey pair of smart trousers, which I think are the essentials in every girls’ wardrobe. I am looking to expand, so I plan on buying myself a pair of pinstriped trousers. I spotted a few on Mango and ZARA already, if you’re interested in buying pinstriped trousers too. I’d say for any kind of smart trouser buy them at H&M, Mango or ZARA as they usually make my perfect kind of smart trouser.

Cami tops
I feel like I mention this item and the next item in nearly every Spring Summer wardrobe essentials post. Cami tops are great. I love them for when it’s really hot out and kind of don’t want to wear clothes. I love how they are flowy and can be dressed up or dressed down. I already own quite a few of these tops but I seem to have lost all of my black ones, so I will be repurchasing a black one, and I kinda feel like I should own a khaki one too. I usually get my cami tops at Topshop, Primark and sometimes Zara.

The basics

This is another one of those items that I will always include into my wardrobe essentials posts. It’s kind of cliché but it’s definitely true. We all need our basic tees. I usually get mine at H&M and Zara. I love wearing white tees during the spring and summer time. However I also feel like we all should invest in some other colours like grey, black, khaki and of course: a striped version. Because we all know that if I’m not wearing black and white combined, I will be wearing something stripey.

Those are my spring/summer essentials. Of course I would have included dresses, but I am going to do another essentials post about 5 summer wardrobe staples, where I will include dresses, so that's for another day.

Are there any essentials that you feel like are missing in your wardrobe? Or are there any essentials that you're missing on my essentials list? I would love to know what you think/what you're essentials are!
