BACK TO BASICS MAKEUP ROUTINE

The past few weeks have been quite stressful to me. I had a difficult time at uni and was really starting to notice it while sleeping. It had quite an impact on my skin and I started breaking out. Instead of covering up my face with lots of makeup throughout the day, I actually decided to massively decrease my makeup routine. That way I wasn't clogging up too pores and I could still feel somewhat confident while I had my breakouts.

I basically copied my makeup routine from when I came back from holiday. However I did make a few tweaks here and there. I started using older products, I went back to basics. Besides that I also started using a few products that are new in my collection. Not only are the makeup products in this routine very limited, it also makes my routine in the morning even quicker! Which means we can have an extra five minutes in bed and have breakfast in the morning, which is a first for me.

I start off with the Becca Backlight Priming filter. This is one of the newer products in my collection that I just started using over a month ago. It's a beautiful primer that leaves you with a bit of a healthy looking glow. It might seem unusual to create yourself a glow when you have oily skin, but I somehow found out that it made me look healthier than when I used a hydrating primer for example.

Once the Becca primer has settled into my skin, I move on to the Nars Tinted Moisturizer in the shade St. Mortiz. I had gotten this tinted moisturizer while I was away on my holiday before, but it was about 5 shades to dark for me right now. So I had to repurchase and get myself an appropriate shade for my winter time self.

Next I move on to bronzer. Bronzer is basically something that I can't leave out in my routine, especially during the winter time. Without bronzer, I basically look like a pale ghost. I am still using the Marc Jacobs Omega bronzer in Tantric. I am using the Marc Jacobs on and off so I still have quite a lot left. This bronzer honestly is so big, I believe I still be using this bronzer again next year. So I just apply this to my cheeks a bit, and then I move on to brows.

Like bronzer, I don't think I really like to go out without having my brows on. Lately I have been having breakouts in my eyebrows and I think the cause of it was an eyebrow sculpt pencil I have been using. I cleansed it with alcohol and even tried tea tree oil, but nothing worked. So I went back to filling my eyebrows in with a powder and right now I am using the Tanya Burr Eyebrow Palette. I only seem to really be using the shade Hot Cocoa, as that is the only shade that really matches my real eyebrows and my hair colour. I fill my eyebrows in with this eyeliner brush that I don't know the brand of.

Next I curl my lashes with my Shiseido eyelash curlers. They're a staple in my makeup routine and I can't live without these curlers. Right now I am using the Lancome Monsieur Big mascara. It's such a gorgeous mascara that really makes my eyelashes look full and even longer than they already are. One coat of this mascara is more than enough to really open my eyes.

That's it. It's still a very, very minimal routine that helps me feel somewhat comfortable in my own skin when I am breaking out. Right now my face is already much better and I have a lot less breakouts. So now this makeup routine looks even better.
