HOW I STAY ON TOP OF LIFE AND UNI

I would like to think that I am actually quite an organised person in life. I always have a set schedule of when I have to do things in life. Somewhere along the month of March I kind of lost my swing and with that I also lost track of my schedule. I am paying the price now, because I have two major deadlines coming up tomorrow evening and I have been stressed out since Friday morning.

Whenever I start feeling overwhelmed by how much I have to get done, I go back to this little list I always set myself. This list remembers me how I stay on top of my life, combining blogging and university together. Instead of just going through this little list of things myself, I thought it would be fun to share them with you too, as they might be helpful to you too.

Plan certain days for certain activities

I am very lucky as this past month I only had to go to uni once a week. This gave me the space to fill the rest of the workdays of my week with either blog related stuff or uni related stuff. I basically created a schedule for myself where I would work on the blog on Mondays and Tuesdays. Then Wednesdays and Thursdays were the days I would work on uni related work. Friday would usually be a day where I would combine blog and uni work as I usually wouldn’t have that much work left to do towards the end of the workweek. This little planning made me very motivated to truly focus on the tasks related to that day and it also meant that I had my weekends off to spend time with family, friends or just relaxing reading a book.

Make to-do lists

If there’s one thing in my life that helps me remember all the things I have to do, it’s to do lists. I always write the tasks I have to do down in my diary. Then I have my bullet journal with a week layout, which helps me write down what I need to do per day. This new way of writing down to-do lists really helps me get my life in order.

Always write things down

If there’s one thing I have learned from keeping things together is to write everything that comes to mind down. New ideas, topics and content come and disappear in about the same amount of time. Therefore I have learnt to always write things down somewhere. Somehow if I have written something down, I am much more likely to remember things too.

Organize my computer and my online diary

I have an online diary and a physical diary. Whenever I am at uni, I always like to just quickly type down what I have to do before a certain time. That’s when I usually write things down in my online diary. Then I would write them down again in my physical diary to remember what tasks I have to do.

Sometimes when I feel extra overwhelmed I also tend to organize my laptop. I spend 80% of my workdays on my laptop saving new photos, documents and creating new things in Photoshop. So that usually leads to me having such a cluttered laptop with documents everywhere. Whenever I feel like this I create folders for blog related stuff, as well as uni related stuff. Then if I have not used certain folders in about 3 months, I also usually end up moving them to my external hard disk. This helps to declutter my laptop as well as my mind.

Tidy your desk

Tidying my desk is the final step in getting my life back in order. Especially when I am busy with making deadlines my desk gets so cluttered. There are mugs everywhere and books surround me when I need to finish my papers or projects usually surround me. Once I have handed in everything it’s time to tidy my desk. Tidying my desk gives me energy to start working on either uni work or my blog again the next day.

  1. I am definitely a list maker/someone who has to write things down, I don't know what it is but it seems to become more important to me if I write it down! Good luck with your deadlines, I don't miss the stress of that at college! Love how you've paired a hoody with a more fancy jacket, so cool!
