AUTUMN BEAUTY FAVOURITES

Every season always comes with it’s own perks. The older I get, the more I start to appreciate every season for it’s own reasons. Autumn also definitely has it its perks. I love autumn walks, crisp air and just spending time outside. But because it gets colder during this time of year, I also start using different beauty products. One example I can give you is of my makeup. During the summer I barely use any makeup and love not having any kind of foundation or tinted moisturizer on my face. During autumn I love to experiment a bit more with makeup. It’s usually this time of year where I start to get my love for makeup back. Because I have such a big love relationship with beauty products in autumn, I thought it would be super fun to write a post about my current favourite autumn beauty products.

Charlotte Tilbury Unisex Healthy Glow

October and November always are those months that I really start to notice that my tan from my summer holiday is starting to fade. I start to look a lot paler and almost as if I am Casper the Friendly Ghost. These months are usually the beginning of my winter complexion where my skin usually looks quite pale and dull. This is something I started noticing two years ago, which is when I started my hunt for a product that would give me a bit of a tint as well as a healthy glow. That’s when I stumbled upon this Charlotte Tilbury Unisex Healthy Glow. At the time I had not heard that much about this product at all. However, Charlotte Tilbury was, and still is, a brand that is very much loved and appreciated in the beauty world. That’s why I decided to just get this product anyway.

This product works it magic and does exactly like it says on its packaging. It’s a hydrating moisturizer that gives a tint and makes you look super healthy and glowy. Whenever I put this on my face in combination with another product from in this post I always get so many lovely comments on how great and healthy my skin looks.

The glow you get from this product can best be described as the glow you get when you just got back home from your holiday. So whenever I start to feel like I look a bit dull and pale, I know it’s the right time to get this product out again. I usually put four dollops of this on my face and neck and then just work it into my skin with my hands, as I find that works best.

Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Crème Désaltérante

I love autumn because it gets colder and you get to wear cute teddy coats and chunky boots. But the cold also affects my skin. My skin tends to get so dry and – this sound gross, and it is… – flaky. I always tend to have a few dry patches because of my acne, and in autumn it usually only gets worse. In summer I can get away with those dry acne patches because I am not putting any tint on there, but in autumn and winter I hate having that a dry patch with some dried up tinted moisturizer. That’s why, as soon as it starts to get colder, I get a heavier moisturizer out. The one moisturizer I love for this colder is this Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Créme Désaltérante. I first got myself a sample of this about four years ago when I was in line waiting to pay in Sephora in Spain. I get so easily sucked in by those ‘buy this while you’re waiting’ products in the line. So yes, I picked up a travel size version of this moisturizer to try out and I have loved using this product for autumn ever since. Everything about this moisturizer is great: the smell, it doesn’t break me out and most importantly: it moisturizes those disgusting dry patches.

This cream is definitely not one of those cheaper moisturizers, but I definitely think it’s worth my money. Of course every one’s skin is different, but I find that this product really works for my skin. That’s why I usually have this product hiding in one of my drawers when I don’t use it. Just in case of emergency, and I spontaneously need to use this product in spring or summer because of an annoying dry patch.

Vichy Normaderm Covermatte Compact Powder Foundation

My face usually tends to get quite oily. That’s why I feel like I always need to use a bit of powder to hide that oil production that is going on on my face. Last year the lovely girls from Vichy here in the Netherlands asked me if I wanted to try out their products. Back in the day I used to use lots of their skincare, but never their products. Of course I had to jump into this opportunity to try their products. One of the products they sent me last year was the Vichy Normaderm Covermatte Compact Powder Foundation.

It was love at first sight. I absolutely adore using this powder, especially in combination with the Charlotte Tilbury Unisex Healthy Glow. It gives me the perfect balance of ‘looking healthy, while not being a shiny disco ball’. This powder is a high coverage foundation powder that is specifically made for people who suffer with acne prone skin. I love this powder because I always feel super confident whenever I have this on. It gives me just the amount of coverage I like.

Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour

Because autumn is that time of year I seem to get a bit pale and dull looking, I also always feel as if my face has no shape whatsoever. That’s why I love contouring my face a bit whenever autumn rolls around. This gives me the illusion that I kind of do have sculpted cheekbones and I am not just one big moon face in autumn. I always go through phases of loving different products. Right now I am using and loving the Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour.

This is one of those products I bought myself in September and have low key used ever other day or so ever since then. I am going to be real honest right now: I am super lazy and as much as I love makeup, I hate having to put it on when it’s super early. That’s why I feel like this is such a great product for me. I just put a few stripes of this on my face, on my cheekbones, on my temples and forehead and dab it into my skin with a beauty blender and that’s it. It’s super quick and easy to work into my skin and it helps me feel contoured and ready to take on the day.

Too Faced Hangover Primer

Another product that I love using during autumn is the Too Faced Hangover Primer. Like I said before, I tend to get those really disgusting dry patches and if I put makeup on, those dry patches tend to be the first thing to notice on my face. That’s why I always try my best to really moisturize and hide those dry patches. One of the products I love using for that (besides the Clarins Hydra-Essentiel cream), is this product. The packaging says it’s a replenishing face primer, which is just what I need when my skin starts to feel a little drier. This primer is supposed to hydrate, smooth and brighten your skin for a dewy look. When I first read that, it sounded just like the product I was after.

I have used this product for over a year now and especially love using it in autumn and winter. So I am beyond excited I get to put this beautiful product onto my skin again to smoothen and hide those ugly dry acne patches.

Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara

I already mentioned this mascara in my five favourites post, but I had to give it a little shout out in this post again too. Like I have said so many times before in this post, I tend to feel super pale and dull in autumn, so any product that helps me feel a little better is a product I am going to love.

The Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara is one of my favourite products to use because it really gives a lot of volume to my lashes. This is great because I personally think that mascara can really make you look awake if you are feeling extra sleepy or just generally tired. I can’t really tell you much about it. Sometimes you just find a mascara that you absolutely love and really works for your lashes. This is one of those mascaras for me. I have had so many questions from friends on what mascara I use, which usually tends to be this one.
