FIVE FAVOURITES OF AUGUST

This post contains affiliate links. This post contains two gifted products without no obligation to share them. Please my full disclaimer here for any further information.

And just like that it’s September. It might be back to school (or uni/work) season, but summer is still on my mind. August was a really good but busy month. This summer I tried to make as much time for self-care as possible and it resulted in me feeling confident in my skin and body. I personally think this has to do with the summer time. During summer is when I usually feel happiest, free and carefree. It’s no surprise that the five favourites I am sharing this month have contributed to me feeling this way. I cannot wait to share my favourite bits and bots I have loved using last month.

H&M white linen shirt

The first thing I felt obligatory to include into my five favourites of August post, is a white linen shirt. I have shouted out many linen shirts and my love for them on Instagram over the past few weeks, so not including it in this post felt wrong. Like I mentioned in my 3 ways to style a linen shirt for summer post, I had not worn shirts or blouses in ages. Something clicked and I had soon gotten back into wearing linen shirts. I loved the look of them on and couldn’t stop wearing them. My favourite and go-to shirt this past month has definitely been this white linen shirt from H&M. It’s such a classic cut and staple item in my wardrobe. It’s slightly oversized, which also a look on a shirt I prefer than it being too tight around the body.

H&M brown sunglasses

I feel like I am going to repeat myself after last week’s blog post on my summer fashion favourites. I already mentioned loving these brown H&M sunglasses there, but only just got around to really dedicate a spot into my five favourites post to it. I love the tortoise sunglasses, as they look friendlier on a face than a pair of black sunglasses. These cat eye-inspired shaped sunglasses have become a staple in my every day looks as soon as the sun starts to make an appearance.

This Works Skin Deep Dry oil *(gifted)

The lovely girls from This Works sent over their Skin Deep dry leg oil back in July and I immediately started using it. Even though they have sent this product over for me to try, they did not ask me to write a review about it. I honestly fell in love with using this dry oil. My arms and legs are always super dry. Especially my legs can sometimes really feel like sandpaper, so when this landed on my doormat, I felt excited to give it a try to see if it works. I really love the smell of this product and it leaves my legs and arms feeling nourished and silky soft.

I love using this when I come out of the shower or whenever I have pluck my legs with my Epilady. My skin is quite sensitive and can sometimes be a bit red after I have used my Epilady. So whenever I use this afterwards it not only helps to make my legs feel hydrated, I feel like it also helps to calm the skin on my legs a bit after enduring the pain and red spots from plucking.

Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal-Extract toner (*gifted)

Back in May I attended an event from Kiehl’s and as a thank you they included this gorgeous Calendula toner in their goodiebag. I had stopped using it after a bad breakout in May thinking this was the cause. We all know by now that that wasn’t the reason, soy products were the little devils causing the breakout. So as soon as I realised this product had no affect on my skin I started using it again. Calendula is known for its anti-inflammatory, calming properties. So it seemed perfect for me to use the toner as it is a step to prep your skin for the rest of your skincare. Since breakouts cause inflammations under the skin, it seemed right to just use this product. I don’t use this toner as people normally would though. After a long few weeks of doing research, I am using this toner with the 7-Skin Method. This is a big trend in Korea at the moment. In short this means you pat your toner or essence seven times into the skin. This has really helped to calm my redness and gives me plum and hydrated skin.

If you are interested in learning more about the 7-skin method, I will share some more on that soon as I will be writing an updated skincare routine post soon. My skin has massively improved since adapting my skincare routine by adding in products known to help hydrate, soothe, calm and stand up to inflammations.

ASOS Design dress

Finally I have to share one of my most recent, favourite purchases. Dresses have become such a wardrobe staple in my collection this summer and I am only slightly disappointed I have bought this dress at the end of July. This black dress looks a lot like the H&M dress I mentioned I loved last year. Just like the white dress, this black dress is extremely comfortable to wear and looks cute and summery. It’s perfect to wear on its own and can easily be dressed up by adding a blazer or leather jacket. I’m sure I’ll get lots of wear out of this dress, not only when I go away on holiday but also in the upcoming years.
