THE CITY GUIDE | EDINBURGH

Edinburgh honestly has been one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited. All its little cobblestone streets and closes make you feel like you're walking around in a whole other world. I already have seen so many beautiful spots and discovered so many amazing lunch spots while I was in Edinburgh, but I still feel like I haven't seen it all. I am currently recommending Edinburgh to literally everyone I talk to and I am dying to go back soon. All of my recommendations will be written down below, so if you're ever close by, or if you're planning a trip to Edinburgh, then just keep reading!

PHOTOGENIC PLACES

Whenever you're in Edinburgh, you will see photogenic places absolutely everywhere. My friend and I were constantly stopping to take some more photos of this beautiful city. My favourite places to take photos of were mainly places that looked like they were from another century, such as Circus Lane, Dean Village and all the closes. It looked like time had frozen in these closes, it reminded me of the 17th century. When you're in Edinburgh and are looking to discover some photogenic places, then these are the places you definitely must visit.

WHERE TO STAY

While my friend and I were away on a city trip in Edinburgh, we tried to find a hotel that was very central, but also did not break the bank. We are both students, so we were looking for a budget friendly hotel. We ended up staying at the Cityroomz hotel in Edinburgh. This hotel was perfect! We had a comfortable bed, the bed- and bathroom were clean and we could charge our phones. This basically was all we needed during our stay, as we were mostly spending all of our time outside the hotel.

Cityroomz, 25-33 Shandwick Place, Edinburgh EH2 4RG, United Kingdom

WHERE TO BREAKFAST / BRUNCH / LUNCH

My friend and I really looked forward to this part of the trip the most. Before we went away we bookmarked so many lovely places to have grab some coffee, breakfast or lunch at. We ended up not being able to see all little coffee and lunch, but all the ones we've been to have been a favourite of mine and have been added to the list.

The Edinburgh Press Club, 20-30 Cockburn Street, Edinburgh EH1 1NY, United Kingdom
Brew Lab Coffee, 6-8 College Street, Edinburgh EH8 9AA, United Kingdom
Cairngorm Coffee Co, 41A Frederick Street, Edinburgh EH2 1EP, United Kingdom
Hyde & Son, 127 George Street, Edinburgh EH2 4JN, United Kingdom
The Caffeine Drip,10 Melville Place, Edinburgh EH3 7PR, United Kingdom

WHERE TO SEE CULTURE

While we were in Edinburgh, we wanted to soak in as much culture as possible. We went to the National Scottish Museum, visited Edinburgh Castle and went to the Holyrood Palace. Normally I am not one to be into visiting palaces, but I really enjoyed being cultural while we were there. And even though I was overwhelmed by the amount of collections at the National Museum of Scotland, you definitely have to pay a visit (it's free!), as the architecture there is just absolutely gorgeous.

National Museum of Scotland, Chambers Street, Edinburgh EH1 1JF, United Kingdom
Palace of Holyroodhouse, Canongate, Edinburgh EH8 8DX, United Kingdom
Old College, University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh

WHERE TO SHOP

While my friend and I were in Edinburgh, we had to do a cheeky bit of shopping. I was actually quite good and mostly got myself books, a perfume and some eyebrow products. While my friend and I were in Edinburgh, we loved going to all of these independent stores in Edinburgh, as they felt truly authentic. My favourite place while we were in Edinburgh was Golden Hare Books. This book shop felt so authentic and so many lovely book recommendations. The girls who helped us in there were so kind and lovely. I am very happy we decided to make a stop here on our last day after all.

Like I said before, Edinburgh was such a magical city and I definitely want to visit this beautiful city again soon. Of course I am also sharing a Google Maps map with you again. On this map you can find all of the places I want to go or have been during my stay in Edinburgh.
