WHAT I LOOK FORWARD TO THIS SPRING

If there’s one thing the Dutch and the British people have in common, it’s to talk about the weather a lot. We love to discuss it and as soon as the sun comes out most of us are in short sleeves and shorts. It’s nearly spring, which always makes me super excited. I would like to say spring is probably one of my favourite seasons, but every season has its own advantages that I personally enjoy.

A few of my favourite things about spring are the longer days and we all get spend more time outside as it’s actually enjoyable to be outside again. However, I am sure that I will start to look forward to summer as soon as hay fever will hit me. And I am pretty sure it will be early this year and will probably hit me hard this spring.

I wrote a pretty similar post to this last year, which you can find here. And those are still things I very much look forward to this year too. They are just more general things, such as feeling the warmth of the sun on my face again as well as having brunch at the beach with friends. This post was completely inspired by the beautiful weather we experiences two weeks ago, that just made me excited to experience spring.

Little day trips and city breaks

One thing I am trying to focus on more this year, is to take more time off. To take more time to relax and discover new cities. I am a couch potato and love to stay at home and don’t really venture into other cities as much as I used to do. I am trying to change that as I would love to share some more beautiful Dutch and Belgian cities with you on my blog. That’s why I am really looking forward to going on little trips by train here in The Netherlands or in Belgium. I am hoping to plan a little trip to Maastricht, which is a beautiful city here in The Netherlands. Anyway, I am just really hoping to discover some more of my own country so I can learn some more about other cities, their history and own culture and traditions.

Meeting new people

Now that I am in my final year of university I am not there as often as I usually would be. I have a little bit more free time on my hand as I am finishing my dissertation and am looking forward to experiencing new things. I for instance really would love to start taking Spanish classes here in The Netherlands so I can hopefully do a Spanish language course during the end of the year. This spring I am very excited to meet new and inspiring people. There is something about meeting new people that you just click with. It gives me some sort of energy and usually leaves me feeling super inspired.

Creating new content

Last year I felt very restricted when it came to my blog. I was super busy with university and spring honestly went by in a blur which led to me going away on my summer holiday before I even knew it. Because those spring months went by in such a blur, I am really looking forward to fully acknowledge this season and to create new content that I would also like to read this spring. I feel like these past few weeks I have been hit by a surge of inspiration because I finally have time to breathe again. I am spending a lot of time reading blogs again, which is something I felt I had not done in absolute ages. With that comes a lot of new inspiration and new content ideas I really look forward to writing about.

Discovering new places in my hometown

Finally I am really looking forward to discovering new places in my hometown. I feel like The Hague, my hometown is really popping at the moment. Back when I was younger I always thought of moving to another city as I felt there just wasn't really that much to experience in The Hague. Nowadays it's a completely different story and I love that there are so many different things you can experience in The Hague.

There are fun new cafes, restaurants and bars popping up every week, which is just so fun to see. There’s something about discovering new or hidden spots in your own hometown. It almost makes you feel as if you are on a little city break, but in your own city. I think it will be super fun to plan a weekend where I discover neighbourhoods I normally don't go, visit hidden places or even go to museums here in my hometown. I think it would be fun to also take you along with me on this journey either here on my blog or via Instagram stories.

What are you looking forward to this spring?
