FIVE FAVOURITES OF JUNE

This post contains affiliate links

Oh hey July, how are you here already?! I have absolutely loved June, I took some more downtime and have really been taking care of myself, my body and my mind. I feel a lot less stressed out than May and the months before that. Where May was more about my trying to regain back confidence while feeling anxious and stressed, June was really about growing, learning new things about myself and becoming confident in my own skin. June was about putting myself before everyone else’s needs and wants, which is obviously quite different than to what I usually do. There are a couple of things that I have absolutely loved in June that have really helped work on taking care of myself, my body and my mind that I am dying to share with you!

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

In June I did a little poll on my Instagram asking you which book I should read next. I find reading very calming, grounding and I really see it as my personal down-time where I don’t check my phone or overthink about everything and anything. You chose that I should read The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, and I am SO glad you picked me to read this book. This discusses topics such as racism and discrimination, both topics I feel quite strongly about. I cannot comprehend people treating other people unfair and hate that this racism and discrimination are still a form of reality to so many people all over the world. I personally really loved this book because it gave such a heart breaking insight into police brutality happening in America. I really love the way Angie Thomas writes, as it’s so easy and accessible. I honestly think anyone should read this book if you haven’t already, in my opinion, it’s such an important, insightful read.

H&M linen tee

After a little early summer wardrobe cleanout, I thankfully rediscovered my linen tees. They actually came in perfect time, as June was such a warm and lovely month with beautiful weather. I love wearing linen in summer as you might have read already in my ‘why you should invest in linen’ and ‘summer style hacks’ post. Linen is a super easy, breathable fabric. I personally love this fabric because it makes me feel sure that I don’t have any weird smells around me whenever it’s warm outside. Some fabrics, such as polyester can really make you go a bit smelly and might leave you feeling a bit sticky, which is obviously what you want to avoid in 17+ degrees Celsius weather. The thought of how claustrophobic I have felt in the past in polyester actually makes my skin crawl, which is why I have been loving this H&M linen tee so much.

Scrunchies

Stress has had a real impact on my health, not only did I have lots of headaches, I also noticed a lot of my hairs falling out from the stress. Back at the end of May I was talking with my cousin about this and she recommended going back to using scrunchies again, as they are the least hurtful hair bands for your hair. I bought 2 new ones at H&M and had a couple of old ones lying around still from Primark, so I have gone back to using those again. Since using it I have noticed only one to no hairs sticking to my scrunchie, whereas before I had at least five to six hairs stuck to my hair bands. I am not sure if it’s actually better for my brittle hair, but I like to think that using these scrunchies have a positive effect on not breaking my hair when I wear it up so often.

Jil Sander Sun Shake perfume

As I have said in multiple five favourites post before, it’s not really weird for me to repeat favourites of mine in this post. So it might not come as a secret that the Jil Sander Sun Shake perfume has made yet another comeback on the blog. It’s mainly because whenever I spray this on in the morning or whenever I really leave the house, it reminds me of summer. This is my most loved summer scent and whenever I smell it, I am instantly thrown back into happy summer memories of last year and the years before that. To me it’s quite weird as I have only really had this scent since September last year, but this scent really reminds me of summer and holidays that it can instantly bring back happy memories of the past!

Mango sunglasses

These Mango sunglasses have made appearances on the blog and in my five favourites posts before, and it’s here again. I bought these sunglasses in store somewhere in June of last year and they were one of my go-to pairs back then. Now that the weather has become lovelier, I noticed I reached for these more often too. The reasoning for it might be a bit lame, but I personally love these sunglasses because they have brown-tinted glasses. Whenever you have a pair of brown-tinted glasses, everything just looks happier and more beautiful. It’s almost as if you’re looking through life with a constant Lightroom/Instagram filter! These sunglasses aren’t sold at their website anymore though, which is kind of sad as they are so lovely.
